Skinny Wireless 4G Broadband plans use Spark's great 4G network. So you can expect a solid broadband connection that is similar to a 4G connection. That means the speed on your connection should be higher than ADSL broadband but generally slower than Fibre. The quality of your connection will depend on your signal strength which is affected by interference from things like concrete buildings, hills and valleys. In a nutshell, it will be slightly different for every customer.
For Unlimited Broadband, if you can get VDSL or ADSL then you'll get the maximum speed available on those connection types. If you can get a fibre connection, you'll get our base fibre speed (30Mbps download / 10Mbps upload) for the same price as ADSL or VDSL. If you want faster speed you can also upgrade to Unlimited Fibre 100/20, Unlimited Fibre 200/20 or Unlimited Fibre Ultra. And if fibre becomes available in your area after you're already connected, just contact us and we'll look at upgrading your connection to fibre. Easy peasy.
Nope, it's your choice. You don't need to have a fixed term contract if you don't want one. It's all about how much you want to pay upfront. We've introduced Skinny's first ever fixed term contract plan as a way to offer an option to include the modem and connection fee in the contract cost. We've kept it nice and simple. Once you sign up on this plan, there will be a standard credit assessment and if you pass that, you're with us for 12 months. If you leave before your 12 months is up, you'll be charged a $199 early termination fee. That's it! We've got a great no commitment Skinny Unlimited Broadband deal as well. You just need to pay for the modem (yours to keep for $99) and a one-off connection fee of $49, and then you've got enough broadband to last until the cows come home.
It's super easy to keep track of your usage for your Skinny Wireless 4G Broadband plan. You can check how much data you have left by logging into your account at skinny.co.nz. It's updated in real time so you know exactly what you've used and what you've got left on your 30 day plan. You can also repurchase your plan at anytime to get another 60GB, 120GB, or 300GB and buy a Data Add-On of 10GB for $20.

Due to the fact that our Wireless Broadband runs on 4G, this can put a lot of pressure on our cell towers with their heavier data requirements than that of mobile devices and your local cell site may already be at capacity in your area. You see, our mobile customers and broadband customers will share the same cell site, so to ensure both our mobile and our broadband customers get the best service possible we need to make sure we are not overloading the towers available. If your address is delivering a message that says you can't get Skinny Broadband, we're super sorry that you can't get it right now but as our techies keep updating the network, you may be able to get it in the future, so keep checking back.
Yep, you can take Skinny Wireless Broadband to your new place. Just check your new property in the Skinny Address Checker to check what plans are available and let us know you will be using your Skinny Wireless modem at a new address then take your modem with you. If you try to use your Skinny Wireless modem at a new address without telling us we may disconnect it from our network.
Same deal with Unlimited Broadband, if you sign up on our 12 month contract option you'll get the awesome Skinny Smart Modem for free, otherwise you'll need to purchase it for $99. This modem has been configured to work right out of the box with a super simple setup to make things easy as and will work when you move properties. You are not able to bring your own 3rd-party modem to connect with Skinny Unlimited.
Unlike some of our plans which only allow you to use 60GB or 120GB of data a month, our uncapped plans do not have a data cap that stops your use at a certain point. It means that you'll always be able to stay connected to the internet during your billing cycle no matter how much data you like to use!
